Amentum Facilities Maintenance Superintendent in Alice Springs, Australia

The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent leads a multi-skilled team in the safe and effective operation and maintenance of facility infrastructure and systems. The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent provides a professional service in leading and coordinating maintenance and configuration of all assigned facility infrastructure systems and equipment, through the leadership and supervision of an allocated crew of technical tradespeople. This includes responsibility for planning, organization, coordination, scheduling, training, mentoring, and resource and performance management relevant to their team’s day-to-day operation of the facility. Within this team, the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent must foster a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of safety initiatives and technical advances.

Accountable for the efficient functioning of his or her team, including the timely identification and completion of operational and maintenance work tasks and ensuring high levels of service are maintained. This role also ensures that the facility operational configuration is controlled in a manner that maximizes productivity and equipment reliability.

This position works closely with other Facilities Operations and Maintenance Superintendents to foster, promote and maintain best-practice standardization across the entire maintenance team, consistent and effective delivery of facility maintenance & support. This role is key to the success of the broader O&M team and thus also works closely with the Facilities leadership team and the O&M Facilities Area Manager (FAM) in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services to enable the JDFPG mission.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and lead assigned team/teams to achieve allocated elements of the program Statement of Work (SOW) requirements. Team includes but not limited to Electricians, Plumbers, Fitters, Carpenters, Mechanics, Servicemen, HVAC technicians/mechanics, and Store person.

  • Plan, organize, resource and coordinate the execution of work schedules for allocated team/teams.

  • Lead, coordinate, supervise and execute preventative maintenance program on assigned facility systems and associated equipment.

  • Evaluate and document the functionality and reliability of assigned systems and associated equipment.

  • Develop and implement systems that contribute to quality improvements in the collection of maintenance information to enable strategic and forward-looking plans and reviews.

  • Identify, propose and contribute to the development of process improvements relevant to assigned system and equipment responsibilities.

  • Conduct review and analysis of data, identifying recommending and implementing any necessary modifications expansion additions or subtractions.

  • Manage personnel issues and leave requests. Ensure the appropriate coverage necessary to meet site maintenance requirements and compliance with Oasis process and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with all site environmental health and safety requirements. Ensure team compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures. This applies to company, government and site requirements.

  • Any other reasonable duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Essential

Competencies

  • (AUS) Certificate III in a relevant Trade or equivalent experience and skills (US) related facilities certifications

Applicable trades include but not limited to:

  • Electrical

  • Plumbing

  • Refrigeration

  • Mechanical

  • Experience in Facilities Plant Operation or Management

  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure, facilities equipment and functionality within a large operational facility

  • Strong understanding of general equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, and corrective)

  • Strong understanding of technical plans and drawings with the ability to read and assess plans and all manner or technical documents

  • Basic computer skills including Office 365 programs and excel

  • Must be an Australian or US citizen.

  • US citizens must be TS SCI with poly.

  • Australian citizens must be NV1 with the intent of progressing to Top Secret clearance.

  • Driver's License

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Personnel are required to be medically fit to work and safely complete all physical tasks associated with the role in which they are employed. While much of this role is sedentary in nature, personnel must remain able to safely lift and operate the necessary tools and equipment, enter multiple physically restrictive plant access points and swiftly traverse the distances between them without undue impacts to individual health and wellbeing.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require an NV1 initially with the intent to progress to TSPV (Red Badge) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or SSBI (TS/SCI) US Department of Defense clearance.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned to work shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT
