Amentum Environmental Sustainability Consultant - Part or Full Time in Bristol City, United Kingdom

We work within the Energy, Security and Technology sector to deliver solutions to defence and security clients. With UK defence estimated to have a significant contribution of carbon emissions and considering the latest Net Zero commitments, there is much to do to adequately respond to the climate emergency and wider sustainability issues. Successful delivery needs to engage large numbers of people across a wide range of projects - estates, infrastructure, platforms, support services - and it needs to be done at pace. As a member of the Defence and Security sustainability network, you will have a key role in working with our clients, supply chain and internal teams to translate commitments into delivery and ensuring win-win outcomes.

This means you will need to be able to work on your own initiative and draw on the experience of those around you to deliver in a complex and challenging environment. Collaboration with the leadership team, sustainability experts and those in project delivery will be necessary to improve sustainability performance for us and for our clients. You will be able to see the bigger picture and know where the detail is important. You will have expertise in an area such as sustainability, environmental management, net zero, energy transition, circular economy, social value, business transformation, cultural/ behavioural change or climate change adaption/ resilience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Understanding client and our sustainability commitments and requirements to engage with key stakeholders

  • Identifying key sustainability risks, impacts, opportunities and benefits in the programme and recommending control measures

  • Reviewing sustainability requirements and r eporting sustainability progress including compliance and requirements

  • Enabling and delivering through others as part of wider cultural evolution

  • Understanding key challenges and enablers

  • Producing case studies and sharing with wider groups

  • Experience and knowledge in sustainability principles

  • Suitable sustainability qualification

  • Experience of developing and implementing Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)

  • Experience in completing Sustainability Appraisal, and assessments for Infrastructure projects.

  • Ability to influence, negotiate, build trust and relationships with clients and colleagues
