Amentum Shipbuilding Specialist in Cadiz, Spain
This position is not currently funded and is contingent upon funding to Amentum. At this time, Amentum is seeking candidates to fulfill contingent roles. The expected award timeframe is Fall 2025.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shipbuilding Specialist to support FDRMC in Rota, Spain, responsible for providing technical expertise in the planning, estimating, and execution of shipbuilding, ship repair, and modernization projects. They will be responsible for supporting the execution of maintenance availabilities by performing cost and technical analysis, providing oversight of contract work, ensuring safety compliance, and acting as a liaison between the contractor and technical authorities. The role requires both shop and shipboard oversight to ensure that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
Essential Responsibilities :
Long-Range Planning & Estimating : Perform long-range planning and provide technical analysis of customer and contractor proposals. Prepare labor, supervision, equipment, and material cost estimates using various procedures and standards.
Cost & Schedule Management : Estimate cost, labor, schedule, and material availability to determine if work can be completed within budget constraints.
Feedback & Problem Resolution : Review and analyze technical feedback and problem reports to update future technical requirements, aiming to reduce delays and rework in future projects.
On-Site Oversight : Provide in-shop and on-ship oversight during availabilities. Monitor the progress of contract work, ensuring it meets specifications, schedule, and quality standards.
Safety Program Coordination : Plan and coordinate on-site reviews for evaluating personnel protection and prevention programs. Conduct daily shipboard safety inspections, providing recommendations to correct unsafe or unsatisfactory conditions.
Liaison Role : Serve as a liaison between the contractor and the technical authority, acting as a technical advisor during government-contractor conferences.
Technical Problem Solving : Recommend alternatives to solve technical problems across all facets of ship maintenance.
Work Specifications & Reports : Develop detailed work specifications, reports, and statements of work to support the planning and execution of shipbuilding, ship repair, and modernization availabilities.
Compliance & Quality Assurance : Review and enforce compliance with technical requirements, ensuring all work is done according to shipbuilding procedures, contracts, and specifications.
Minimum Requirements :
Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or ship modernization projects.
Experience in estimating costs, labor, and material requirements for ship maintenance projects.
Knowledge of shipbuilding procedures, contracts, and specifications.
Strong analytical skills for cost and technical analysis.
Ability to develop detailed reports, work specifications, and statements of work.
Strong communication skills to act as a liaison between contractors and technical authorities.
Ability to conduct safety inspections and make immediate recommendations to address unsafe conditions.
Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications (not required) :
Experience in providing oversight and technical advice on shipboard production work, ensuring compliance with schedules, work specifications, and quality standards.
Expertise in shipbuilding or ship repair processes.
Experience in coordinating and evaluating personnel protection and safety programs.
Familiarity with the government-contractor conference environment, including acting as a technical advisor.
