Amentum Operations Manager in Erbil, Iraq

Purpose and Scope:

Leads and manages the activities of the Operations Function within a Business Segment to accomplish management and financial objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall functioning and performance of the operations business segment.

  • Serves as the Quality Management POC for the overall program

  • Lead, develop and implement Operational processes and standards to be used to implement disciplined operations excellence in performance across the Business Segment.

  • Manages the operational personnel including recruitment, development, standards, qualifications, and deployment to operational projects within the business sector.

  • Reviews operational performance including key performance indicators, operational readiness reviews, operational event investigations, and normal operations reviews for all operational projects within the business segment.

  • Develops the basic objectives, strategies, and plans of the operations business segment. Ensures adequate planning for future development and growth of the Operations Function and leads the preparation of the Annual Program Review for review and approval by the Program Manager.

  • Directs the development and installation of a sound plan of organization and controls.

  • Appraises and evaluates the results of the Operations Function relative to established objectives regularly and systematically and ensures that appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions.

  • Delegates portions of activities, responsibilities, and authorities, as necessary and desirable, to other staff. Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.

  • Promotes effective communications throughout the business segment.

  • Ensures that all business segment activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

  • Represents the company as appropriate in its relationship with customers, employees, competitors, suppliers, government agencies, community organizations, professional societies, and similar groups.

  • Provide business element strategic planning to include facility operations, staffing, operational training, and employee compensation objectives.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelors degree preferred, but not required ;

  • 10 years of progressive management experience; and excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Experience in a government contracting environment preferred.

  • Must be able to articulate with executive presence, creative and forward-looking, clear thinker and decision maker, change agent, and have a track record of continuing education. Position generally requires extensive travel.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communications, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to access hazard operational areas which may include the wearing of PPE for periodic oversite of operational activities.
