Amentum Painter in Hawthorne, Nevada

Amentum is seeking a Painter to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Painter will perform all duties associated with paint material application to include surface preparation, mix and blending to match color requirements and paint application through various techniques. The Painter will determine tools required for each job such as ladders, scaffolding, rigging as required and the use of paint spray gun, brush, or roller.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform work requiring extensive knowledge of paints, surface preparation, and techniques of application.

  • Applicant must follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials.

  • Prepares surfaces to be painted.

  • Determines sequence of paint operations and methods to be used including the need for scaffolding, rigging, color blending, time allowance between coats, and type and number of materials required.

  • Mixes, blends, and matches paint to proper color and consistency.

  • Erects scaffolding and rigging as required.

  • Paints a variety of surfaces such as interiors and exteriors of buildings, stationary equipment, and mobile equipment.

  • Applies prime, intermediate, and finish coats with brush, roller, or spray gun.

  • Paints signs through the use of stencils or by drawing as assigned.

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Reads and understands Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks in the workplace.

  • Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.

  • May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than listed above.

  • Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • This person is required to uphold company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success) as well as perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above.

  • Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; Responsible for reporting potential and known environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma/equivalent.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.

  • Must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled, maintain a good attendance record and willing to work overtime if required.

  • Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

  • Must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment.

  • Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.

Minimum Requirements:

Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain/maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access.

  • Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal.

  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required training as outlined in Amentum’s Master Training Plan.

  • Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certifiable technical or trade training highly desirable.

  • Two (2) years' experience preparing and painting surfaces desired.

  • Ability to use, clean and rebuild/repair airless sprayers.

  • Ability and knowledge of HVLP spray guns.

  • Prep and prepare surfaces for paint.

  • Drywall repair and texturing.

  • Application of different types of paint on all surfaces.

  • Good knowledge of ventilation, scaffolding, and use of ladder safety regulations is highly desired.

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
