Amentum Watertight Doors Technician in Norfolk, Virginia

Amentum is looking for a highly motivated person to provide technical assistance in the system-level troubleshooting, repair, testing, operation, and assessment of surface ship watertight closures/doors using technical documentation in accordance with engineering specifications. Work will be accomplished onboard Naval Surface ships in the Norfolk area utilizing standard hand tools, technical diagrams, and ship drawings.

Job responsibilities:

  • Document troubleshooting results and provide problem resolutions or recommendations for the troubleshooting and report of Watertight Doors/closures

  • Provide support in engineering efforts related to repair, testing and analysis of watertight closures/door upgrades and modifications.

  • Provide onboard technical guidance and on-the-job training to ship force in the repair of watertight closures utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) from technical drawings, and other technical documentation

Minimum requirements:

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least five (5) years of job-related experience, or equivalent general experience with installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of Naval or marine hull, mechanical equipment

  • Demonstrated practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting Watertight Closure Doors

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation including mechanical drawings, military technical manuals, and other technical documentation

  • Must have an active DoD confidential US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a confidential clearance.
